Dead is Sal Hoss, 94, Lebanon’s five-time Prime Minister

Salim Hoss (Sal Hoss), a stalwart figure in Lebanon’s political landscape, passed away at 94, leaving a legacy of leadership and dedication to his country. The former five-time Prime Minister played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s history during some of its most tumultuous years.

Born in December 1929 in Beirut, Hoss was educated at the American University of Beirut and later received a Doctorate in Law from the Sorbonne in Paris. He entered politics in the early 1960s, serving in various government positions before being appointed Prime Minister for the first time in 1976 amid Lebanon’s civil war.
