84, Former New Brunswick Member of Parliament Elsie Wayne died at the age of 84 on Monday. Wayne was first elected to the House of Commons in 1984 as the Progressive Conservative MP for Saint John. She was re-elected in 1988, 1993, 1997, and 2000.
Wayne did not seek re-election in 2004. Wayne served as the Minister of Veterans Affairs and National Defence during her office. Wayne was known for her direct and no-nonsense approach. In a 2006 interview, she said, “I’m not a diplomat. I’m a New Brunswicker, and I say what I think.”
Wayne was also an active supporter of the military and veterans. In 2002, she helped to establish the Elsie Wayne Veterans Memorial Garden in Saint John. Wayne’s death comes just days after the death of another former New Brunswick MP, Paul Zed.
One less radical conservative to deal with now. Thank you.
So she made a living off the backs of taxpayers and we should be sad??? 40
