Amid silent sobbing and gentle funeral hymns, former carnival queen contestant Aisha Mark was laid to rest on Tuesday.
Tears came easily to everyone in attendance as they said their final farewell to the young 33-year-old mother who succumbed to breast cancer on February 6th, 2014.
Speaking at the funeral service held at the St. Gerard’s Hall, Father Branker John, reminded family and friends to always hold on to faith even when times may seem difficult.
“When it seems that God has abandoned his people, the people of God should not abandon their faith and their trust in God. When everything seems to be falling apart around the people of God, people of God do not fall apart themselves but hold on to real hope,” he said.
John encouraged those in attendance to continue to pray for Mark and continue to make Jesus a part of their daily lives.
Mark, who once worked as an announcer on state-owned DBS Radio, was a teacher at Dominica Grammar School when she passed away.
She was laid to rest at the Roseau Catholic Cemetery.
She contested the Miss Dominica Pageant in 2002.
