Film production can be a dangerous business. As we discussed in our video about 9 Incredibly Hard To Shoot Movie Scenes, getting the perfect action shot can sometimes mean pulling off very risky stunts that have the potential to go disastrously wrong. Fortunately, most productions will have plenty of precautions and safeguards, so on-set deaths are rare. However, there are still some famous cases of actors who died while filming and others who died before they could finish their current projects.

yes, River Phoenix was a great actor, died during production of Dark Blood,
but I believe Chris Farley wasn’t in any production at the moment of his
death

while Shrek was in pre production. in fact they released a voice over
storyboard on YouTube. “Chris Farley as shrek lost footage found” Maybe it
still doesn’t count but its still sad that he never got to do Shrek.

To me, Philip Seymour Hoffman is the greatest loss in movie/film history.
He was so lovable, talented and he did so many different superb roles. All
these acters will be missed, but he was one of my al time favorites…

What about Richard Harris, from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets?
+Yo Ninja richard harris died October 25 2002…Chamber of Secrets was
released in the UK Nov 3 2002 and the US Nov 15 2002….so unless they were
reshooting and /or finalizing a week before release, i think it is safe to
say that Harris doesnt merit being on this list
He died of cancer, not out of old age.
